BEF Campus was established in 2006 with the specific intention of making education easily available to all classes of society. Traditional education has not been able to penetrate deeper recesses of Nepal partly because of the paucity of funds and partly because of the difficult geographBEFl terrain. Establishment of traditional schools and colleges requires huge investments on infrastructure. Distance Education is the need of the hour. The Government of Nepal has realized the need for open learning and has rightly taken steps to promote distance education by passing a bill on the establishment of an Open university in Nepal. Sensing the need for such education and to serve the needs of society, BEF launched courses of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), which is a leading university in south India. The response from the student community has been phenomenal. Unwilling to be branded as a college for distance education alone, BEF has forged ties with many other conventional universities. It has also established a Research Division in which students from Nepal can do their research work from different international universities under the guidance of internationally- reputed guides.
The primary aim of BEF is to provide conventional and open education at various levels i.e. from the certifBEFte level to the doctoral level. Inspired by its success in Kathmandu, BEF has now widened its network to different parts of Nepal. BEF has its branches in Narayanghat, Biratnagar, Dhulikhel , Surkhet and Pokhara. Soon many more centers will be in operation in different parts of Nepal.
