B.Sc Nursing programme aims to prepare competent B.Sc. nurses to function independently in multidisciplinary health fields, to provide care to the needy people of the community regarding the preventive and rehabilitative aspects of health.

The graduates will be functioning in healing institutions as well as in education, research and administration fields. 

Objective:
On completion of the course the graduates will be able to:

  • Work competently and collaboratively as a team member in different types of health organizations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and health team members.
  • Participate in different health care settings providing competent nursing care to the individual, family and community.
  • Provide guidance and supervision for staff, students and other members of health team in working environment.
  • Utilise the scientific principles, knowledge and skill in planning nursing care as a team leader.
  • Identify the learning needs of staff, students and also the client, family and community, demonstrate the teaching skills accordingly in formal and informal settings.
  • Conduct and participates in research activities for the development of nursing profession as well as individual development.

Admission to B.Sc. Nursing Programme:

Eligibility for Admission:

  1. To be eligible for selection to the Basic B.Sc. Nursing course, a candidate should have:
  2. Completed 17 years of age on or before the date of commencement of course. Completed intermediate of Science or 10+2 or equivalent with English, Mathematics, and Science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology) and should have secured an aggregate of 50% or more marks in English, Mathematics and any two of the science subjects mentioned above.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Kathmandu University Entrance Examination compulsory.
  2. Academic achievement in the Intermediate of Science or 10+2 or Equivalent examination
  3. Personal Interview
  4. Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit by the school of Medical Sciences.
