Bachelor in Development Finance (BDFin) is a four year, (eight- semester) professional program. This is yet another innovative program, which has been conceived and offered by National College, Center for Development Studies since 2006.

The Financial sectors in Nepal have grown rapidly with large number of banks, insurance companies and financial cooperatives in recent years. As a member of World Trade Organization (WTO), Nepal is required to open the doors for international development, financial institutions from 2010. The microfinance, cooperatives and micro-enterprises are yet other emerging sectors in developing nations. Along with the growth in these sectors, the requirement of a large number of professional and skilled manpower has also been increased.

The Development Finance course aims to enhance students’ capacity to understand the meaning of financial development in a sustainable way. This program is also interdisciplinary, incorporating concepts and approaches from Economics, Finance, Development and Management.

Specific features of this program are:

¡ Objective

  1. To prepare graduates with ability to work in financial sectors that are changing from conservatism/traditionalism to skill oriented professionalism in diverse socio-economic conditions both in rural and urban areas.
  2. To inculcate interdisciplinary knowledge and skills of development finance.
  3. To develop effective leadership qualities among the students so as to materialize financial development works in the areas of need with higher level of achievement.

  1.  Boundless scope for absorption in the financial sectors (banks, insurances, finance companies, micro financing companies), corporate sectors and development projects within Nepal, in the regional and Middle East countries.
  2. Ability to start micro enterprises independently.
  3. Access to any university in the world for higher education in the area of finance, management, economics and development.
