The Bachelor of Science in Nursing aims to prepare professional nurses with the highest possible technical and managerial competence in respective levels of health programs including problem identification, planning, implementation, training, health education, evaluation and research.

Such graduates can serve in various types of positions at national, regional, zonal, district and international level. In general, the B.Sc. Nursing graduates should be able to carry out the responsibilities of various health institutions as a nursing officer/Faculty/basic level researcher and direct care provider.

Objectives of the Program

The general objective of the B.Sc. nursing program is to produce competent graduates basic with advanced knowledge and practical skills necessary to deliver high quality health services needed for the country. Specifically, the program entails the following general objectives:
 

1. Provide basic and advanced knowledge and practical skills in nursing science covering Primary Health Care for nursing graduates.
2. Develop skills in (measurement, design, analysis and evaluation for applied nursing sciences) health system research and management
3. Equip nursing professionals with communication and group organization skills for promoting community participation in health and development activities ultimately leading to the individual and community self-reliance in health services and improvement in health status
4. Enable nursing health professionals to deal with the existing realities in health management issues, concerns and problems
5. Foster positive attitudes of health professionals to encourage them for providing more accessible, equitable nursing services for disadvantaged groups and communities.
6. Develop the leadership capabilities of nursing professionals in the management of nursing services at various levels’ health programs.
7. Enhance the vocational competence of nursing professionals through advanced education in health strategies, health promotion and health programming.
8. Prepare professionals to be creative innovative in preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative aspect of care according to scientific advancement and the trend of the day.
9.  Enhance competence in teaching hearing process as self directed learner.

Course duration
This course has been designed for four academic year's in bachelor in nursing science.

Admission criteria

1.  Candidate must have completed intermediate science or 10+2 or equivalent with biology, chemistry, physics, math and English as main subjects and should have secured minimum of 50% of mark in aggregate.

3.   must have completed 17 years of age

Entrance
There will be entrance examination of one paper (English 50 mark, and hundred mark of nursing science related/health science related major subject area). The question will be of multiple choices. Duration of examination will be 3 hours. Candidate must obtain at least 50 percent marks to pass entrance examination; however, the selection will be based on the merit list in the descending order.
