No sooner had a group of students unlocked the office of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) today, than other two groups padlocked the office.
Yesterday, the UCPN-Maoist-aligned CTEVT Students’ Concern Forum had padlocked the office, demanding a fee structure for all levels of CTEVT’s constituent and affiliate colleges.
Right after the forum unlocked the office after an agreement to hold early talks on the demand, Students’ Society for General Medicine and Diploma in Pharmacy and Students’ Association of Nepal locked the offices of the member secretary, vice chairman and Standard Determination Division with the same demand — a uniform fee structure.
Ramesh Kumar Bakhati, the CTEVT controller, made it clear that they will form a national level committee within this week to determine the fee structure for all the CTEVT-affiliated private colleges.
Last week, the parliamentary Committee for International Relations and Human Rights had directed the government to form a committee to fix fees for the CTEVT-affiliated technical and vocational schools.
