Application for Postgraduate MD/MS Programs
(Academic Year: 2012)

 

Applications are invited for the following MD/MS programs of Kathmandu University from eligible candidates.

A. MD / MS (Clinical Sciences including Pathology)

   1. Anaesthesiology                           2. Dermatology
   3. General Surgery                           4. Internal Medicine
   5. Obstetrics & Gynaecology            6. Ophthalmology
   7. Orthopaedics                               8. Oto- rhinolaryngology
   9. Paediatrics                                  10. Pathology
  11. Psychiatry                                  12. Radio Diagnosis

   Eligibility Criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent degree in modern medicine from an institution recognized by Kathmandu University and One year of clinical experience after obtaining MBBS degree by February 2012.
  • Candidates holding Post-graduate diploma from an institution recognized by Kathmandu University will be eligible for that particular Subject only.
  • Registration with Nepal Medical Council.

B. MD / MS (Basic Medical Sciences including Forensic Medicine)
  1. Anatomy                                     2. Biochemistry
  3. Community Medicine                   4. Forensic Medicine
  5. Microbiology                               6. Pharmacology
  7. Physiology

  Eligibility Criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent degree in modern medicine from an institution recognised by Kathmandu University.
  • For the subject of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Physiology, candidates who have completed Bridge course after BDS can apply
  • Registration with Nepal Medical Council.

 

Admission will be on one of the following basis:

A. For MD / MS (Clinical Sciences including Pathology)
   1. Pass in the Entrance Examination followed by interview.
   2. Candidate already holding postgraduate diploma recognised by the university will not be required to sit for the entrance examination. They will be selected on the basis of interview only in that particular subject.

B. MD/ MS (Basic Medical Sciences including Forensic Medicine)
  1. Candidates will be selected on the basis of interview only (No Entrance Examination).

 

Selection Criteria
  1. Seats will be identified for faculty development of the medical colleges, Sponsored candidates will have to sign an agreement according to the rules of the institution.
  2. Remaining seats will be given to self-financing candidates on merit basis.

 

Application Form, Submission Process and Deadline

The applicants must download the application form from www.ku.edu.np or www.dhulikhelhospital.org and completed application form along with the photocopies of the certificates of 10+2 or equivalent examinations, MBBS, Nepal Medical Council registration certificate, citizenship certificate and bank voucher worth NRs.3000/- for clinical sciences subjects including Pathology & NRs. 1000/- for Basic Sciences subjects including Forensic Medicine (non-refundable) of Nepal Investment Bank, deposited in the name of KUSMS Saving Account Number: 005 8261140 (cash is not acceptable) submit to the Dean's office, School of Medical Sciences, Dhulikhel Hospital, Dhulikhel during working days from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM on or before Tuesday, 7 February 2012. Deposit can be made through any branches of Nepal Investment Bank.

Entrance Examination: Date, Time and Venue
Date of Entrance examination: Saturday, 11 February 2012.
Venue: School of Medical Sciences, Pre Clinical Sciences Complex, Chaukot, Kavre.
Time: 11:00 –1:00 PM.

Entrance test result will be published at www.ku.edu.np or www.dhulikhelhospital.org

Date of Interview will be notified at the time of entrance test result.

This Examination will be valid for the Academic Year 2012 only.

Programs are conducted in different instuitions under Kathmandu University.
