A decade-long struggle of the people of Far Western Region to establish the central office of the Far Western University has been over.
Coinciding with the day of Saraswati Puja, the university’s registrar Hemraj Panta set up the office by putting up a sign board at a rented house at Janakitol in Mahendranagar on Saturday. “After a long struggle, people’s aspiration has been addressed. Today is a historic day for the local people,” said Panta.
He said the central office will start its work soon after the office set-up is managed. He said that the university also plans to start classes of some limited subjects from the coming academic session.
“We have a plan to start BBA and B Ed classes. We are holding consultation with concerned experts about preparation for four-year semester-wise courses,” he said.
In response to the demand of the local people, the government decided to set up the central office last year.
A liaison office of the university established in Kathmandu was looking after the overall works of the institution so far.
