KU School of Education dean resigns over VC appointment at Kathmandu University

Expressing dissatisfaction over the repeated appointment of a single person as the Vice Chancellor (VC) at Kathmandu University (KU) for the sixth time, Dean at School of Education (SoE), Prof. Dr. Man Prasad Wagle resigned on Thursday.

Few weeks back, government had appointed Suresh Raj Sharma as the VC of KU for the sixth time.

“I resigned because I could not accept the repeated appointment of the same person as a VC as if there was no one else,” said Wagle. “My second tenure is also coming to an end. I think that new persons should be given the opportunity,” he added.

Wagle’s has 16 months left in his second tenure. Sharma was disappointed at the public remarks by Wagle over his appointment.

According to the university sources, his resignation has been accepted.

Professor union of the university have also condemned the appointment of the same person as VC for the sixth time.
