Kathmandu Metropolitan City is gearing up to distribute 'Smart Boards' to its community schools. This initiative aims to modernize the teaching-learning process and provide students with access to advanced educational tools.

The Education Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City is leading this effort, with Saraswati Pokharel, the department's acting head, confirming the distribution preparations. These Smart Boards, which are currently in the procurement phase, will soon be made available to selected community schools across the metropolitan area.

"While specific schools scheduled for distribution have yet to be finalized, the intention is to equip numerous community schools with these technological aids," stated Acting Head Pokharel. With 89 community schools in the metropolitan area, there is a considerable demand for this technological upgrade among educational institutions.

Smart Boards serve as an innovative medium for educators to engage students through multimedia resources. Pokharel emphasized the versatility of these boards, highlighting their capability to facilitate video playback, internet research, and interactive presentations via tools like PowerPoint.

In addition to Smart Boards, efforts are underway to provide laptops to teachers, further streamlining the teaching process. Pokharel disclosed that the procurement procedures for laptops are also in progress. Furthermore, the Metropolitan City plans to furnish schools with furniture materials meeting government standards, aiming to create conducive learning environments.

This initiative comes amidst a surge in student enrollment in community schools, attributed to subject-specific teaching by qualified educators at minimal fees. Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the implementing body, is committed to leveraging available resources to foster quality education and student welfare.

With an allocation of Rs. 1,32,09,33,000 in the current fiscal year, Kathmandu Metropolitan City underscores its dedication to boosting the education sector. As Kathmandu Metropolitan City advances towards a technologically enriched educational landscape, the future of learning appears promising for students across community schools.
