MSc in Aquaculture is offered by Tribhuvan University. It is a 2 year academic program. The aim of the program is to give the students broad practical and theoretical knowledge in different fields, before they complete their master thesis within a focus area, which can be chosen from fish breeding, fish nutrition, production technology or another area of interest, e.g. water or product quality. The master thesis project is normally taken over one year and offers great flexibility in terms of project type and location.

Eligibility

For admission to M.Sc.Aqua, a minimum of second division in B.Sc.Ag. / B.Sc. An.Sc. / B.Sc. (Aqua / Fisheries) or B.V.Sc. & AH. or M.Sc. (Zoology) with Fisheries as elective subject is required.

Entrance Examination: 

An entrance examination will be held with a weightage of 100 marks; students must secure at least 50 marks to be eligible for admission. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 100 marks will be asked from various areas of this subject, and the total duration of the entrance examination is only 90 minutes.

When the scores are equal, the percentage/CGPA of the Bachelor's level, and if that is also equal, the percentage/grade of the subjects Biology, Chemistry, English, Math, and Physics in order, will be considered to establish the merit list.

  6. Official leave/release and recommendation letter (for those applicants who are Govt./INGO/NGO employee and foreign nationals)
  7. Letters of Sponsorship (for those applicants who will be funded by sponsoring agencies)
  8. Application and entrance examination fees paid receipt (from account section of IAAS)

Job Prospects

After the completion of the degree, one can become a manager in the fish farming industry, quality control, governmental or extension positions, developing new aquaculture species, managing breeding programs, sales or administration.
